FAQ
Honest answers.
No fine print.
The questions people ask most — about privacy, your photos, and what happens when you clean.
PrivacyDo my photos ever leave my phone?+
No. Every scan runs entirely on your device. SpaceUp never uploads, copies, or backs up your photos to any server — there is nothing to leak because nothing is sent.
PrivacyCan SpaceUp’s team see my photos?+
No. We have no access to your library. The app works locally, and we receive no images, thumbnails, or filenames from your device.
How it worksHow does SpaceUp decide what’s clutter?+
On-device machine learning groups near-identical shots, detects exact duplicates, flags blurry photos and old screenshots, and surfaces your largest videos. It only suggests — you decide what actually goes.
How it worksAre the space numbers real?+
Yes. We show the actual reclaimable space for what you select — no inflated junk totals or scare numbers. What you see is what you’ll free.
How it worksDoes it work offline?+
Completely. Because all processing is on-device, SpaceUp scans and cleans with no internet connection at all.
SafetyWhat happens when I delete something?+
Nothing is removed immediately. Cleared items move to Trash and stay there for 30 days, so a cleanup is always reversible.
SafetyCan I undo a cleanup?+
Yes. Open Trash and restore any photo or video with a single tap, any time within the 30-day window. Deletion only becomes permanent when you choose.
PermissionsWhat permissions does SpaceUp need?+
Just one: access to your photos. That’s the only permission required to find and organise clutter — no contacts, no location, no account.
PermissionsWhy does it need photo access?+
To scan your gallery locally and group what it finds. The permission is used solely on-device; your photos are never read by us or sent anywhere.
